In most of the pousadas there will be someone who speaks English, (and other guests will help translate if in difficulty) but if you are taking public transport you may find it quite difficult to get around, so it is useful (and more fun) to try to learn the basics before you come. If you prefer to stay in a pousadas where they speak your language then search by language under the map on the home page.
